Press Release

Spring Treasures, Spring Tonics
with Susun Weed

April 17, 2010
Woodstock, NY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Spring Fever Brings Herbalists to the Wise Woman Center
to Discover Treasures and Prepare Tonics.

Spring fever draws both aspiring and experienced herbalists to the Wise Woman Center in Woodstock, NY to join Susun Weed in one of her first classes of the season.

Author of best-selling books and founder of the Wise Woman Center, Susun Weed encourages visitors to bite buds, smell roots, laugh at goats, and think green.  She introduces students to some tasty pleasures of the season that are also effective treatments for spring fever, such as birch water, root beer, dandelion wine, rampions, wild horseradish, and nettle soup.

Come get your hands dirty digging for tonic roots even before you can dig your home garden.  Harvest the twigs of trees and savor their sweet spring sap, its taste reminding us that life is active although the green has yet to appear.  Join in the long-held tradition of allowing spring’s treasures to nourish you after the long winter.

“Spring Treasures, Spring Tonics” is a one-day class with Susun Weed held at the Wise Woman Center in Woodstock, NY on April 17, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The cost is $75 and includes a delicious wild foods lunch.

Weather permitting the class leaves promptly at 10:15 a.m. for a talking stick ceremony and a weed walk in the woods with the goats.  You will have lots of time to learn to identify and talk about plants and ask questions.  When the goats take a break, you will prepare and enjoy a wild food lunch.  Class size is small to allow personal attention.  Class held indoors in case of rain.
