Susun Weed, Special Guest Speaker at 2009 Southeast Women’s Herbal Conference
The southeastern United States is continuing its recently started yearly tradition of holding a fall herbal conference. This years Southeast Women’s Herbal Conference – which will be held in Black Mountain, NC, October 2-4, 2009 - is host to many wonderful presenters and teachers, among them notable Susun S. Weed.
There is a plethora of workshops to entice anyone’s palette this year. Susun is offering two of them – “Menopause Means Change” and “Stories from Baba Yaga’s Bag” A gifted storyteller, she is sure to delight. And the wisdom that has heralded her book, New Menopausal Years the Wise Woman Way, the menopausal woman’s bible will enrich any woman’s vision of the beauty and power of menopause.
For deeper learning, five intensives will be offered over the course of the weekend. Susun’s offering this year is “Seven Medicines: Informed Choices for Optimal Health based on the Wise Woman Way” Using these Seven Medicines - Serenity Medicine, Story Medicine, Energy Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine, Herbal Medicine, Pharmaceutical Medicine, and Hi-Tech Medicine – participants will learn: the benefits of doing nothing; the best ways to collect information; how to dance in the shaman's playground; simple lifestyle choices that extend life; ways to discern the differences between nourishing, tonifying, and stimulating herbs; the uses and problems of drugs, including supplements; and high-tech diagnosis. Whether one’s interest in health is new or well seasoned, wading through the confusion of conventional and “alternative” options can be daunting. Knowing and working with the Seven Medicines, one can get the most of what's available, with the least risk, at the lowest cost.
The 2009 Southeast Women’s Herbal Conference is held at Camp Rockmount, October 2nd through 4th. The cost is $240 if pre-registered by August 20th. There is an Early bird special of $195 if paid in full by May 15th! A weekend meal ticket is available for $58.
