FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
18th Annual Women’s Herbal Conference to Honor the Wisdom of
our Ancestors and Respected Herbalists
Peterborough, NH (PRWEB) August 26, 2005 -
This year’s 18th annual Women’s Herbal Conference,
honoring the wisdom of our ancestors, will be held August 26-28, 2005.
This conference on women’s health, herbs, and healing has been
held each year for the past seventeen years, and has brought together
leading women herbalists and healers from throughout the country to
share their wisdom of the plants and natural healing methods. Join us
in this special celebration of our radiance, our bodies, and our work
as wise women and healers.
The Women’s Herbal Conference features a great variety of workshops
for all levels of interest and experience. Workshops focus on Womens
health, herbal crafts, medicine making, plant identification walks and
many hands-on demonstrations. Included also is an amazing evening of
women talent, a great barter faire, ceremonial mask making, the annual
henna party, canoeing, and many other joyful, playful and inspiring
events! Among the many noted teachers will be world-renowned herbalist
and author of four best-selling books, Susun S. Weed.
Susun will be leading an intensive on Saturday afternoon called “The
Heart of Herbalism.” She acknowledges, “The Heart
of Herbalism is easy to feel, but may be difficult to put into practice.”
This intensive will look at some of the nitty-gritty problems that healing
with heart brings up - Should I charge for consultations? Does it matter
what herbs I use? How can we be powerful in our health care? Can the
Seven Rivers of Healing help us make the safest health care choices?
Participants will also be sure to sing, laugh, and share their individual
responses to the common problem of being green in a grey world.
Ms. Weed will also offer two other shorter classes during the conference.
“Walk in Beauty” will help participants
learn to use the Wise Woman tradition in all the work they do with plants.
While in her “Using Herbs Simply and Safely”
class, women will ask and find answers to the following questions: “Are
herbs natural and therefore safe? Or drugs in green guise and therefore
dangerous? Are standardized extracts better? Are combinations of herbs
necessary? What about homeopathy and flower essences? What's the difference
between a tincture and a medicinal vinegar, between an infusion and
a tea? Should herbs be fresh or dried for best effect? How much is a
safe and effective dose?” Whether one’s interest in herbs
is new or well-seasoned, this talk will help one get the most out of
herbal medicine -- with the least risk.
These wonderful three days will be held at a beautiful retreat center
in New Hampshire that provides excellent facilities with comfortable
indoor accommodations. Surrounded by lovely woods and meadows, the camp
borders a large lake where women can swim, canoe, and relax between
workshops. The cost for the conference is $285 for women; age 13-18
and 65+ is $185. Those under 12 will have the option of Kid’s
Camp and cost $85. . The fee includes all workshops and activities,
vegetarian meals, and camping. The intensives are an additional $35
each. Indoor lodging – cabin or yurt – is an additional
$55 per person.
